Different requirements to visit Egypt or Morocco during the COVID-19 pandemic
Egypt and Morocco are countries located
in the Africa continent, specifically in North Africa. With Islam as their
principal religion, Islamic culture hugely influenced both countries' tourism
sites. Egypt's main attraction is the Giza pyramids and the Great Sphinx; it
suits tourists who are into archeology and history. Morocco is known for its
Medinas, which are cities' historical downtowns and hunt for traditional
handicrafts like jewelry, rugs and teapots. Tourists who like to buy unique and
antique items must visit Morocco.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Egypt and
Morocco has been open for tourism and resumes flights since last year.
Visitors can visit Egypt and Morocco as long as they meet the COVID-19 entry
requirements; one of the requirements is a printed negative PCR test
certificate on arrival. It must be a nasal or oral swab test and the
certificate issued by an approved laboratory. The PCR test must be less than 72
hours before the flight. However, in Egypt, it extends to 96 hours when arriving
from Japan, China, Thailand, London, Frankfurt, Paris and the American
continent. Certificates can be in Arabic or English. Children under six years
old are exempt from this entry requirement in Egypt, and children under 11
years old are exempt in Morocco. To enter Egypt, visitors from eligible
countries should apply for an Egypt eVisa online. In Morocco, professionals
must have a printed invitation from the inviting Moroccan company. The sealed
letter must have the manager's signed with all the relevant information
concerning the traveler. For visitors besides Visa, a confirmed hotel
reservation in a classified hotel, Raid and tourist establishment must be
presented at the airport.
For Indonesian, the requirements to
apply for Egypt Visa are an original passport and a copy of it, two sheets of 4
x 6 picture, a copy of marriage certificate for married people, a birth
certificate & family card for the children, financial proof for the last
three months, English certificate of employment for workers, school/university
letter for students, a business trade license for entrepreneur, English sponsor
letter (if paid by someone or company). For working purposes, there must be an
official letter from the company. For Morocco, no need for Visa as long as you
do not stay for more than 90-day.
Egypt and Morocco are pretty similar
countries but for different kinds of tourists. I would say Egypt is for those
who like history, and Morocco for those who into arts. The regulations to enter
the countries during the COVID-19 pandemic are pretty safe. Morocco is
currently suspending flights from more countries than Egypt. They also asked
for more paper than Egypt; therefore, Morocco is stricter with its regulations
than Egypt is. Indonesian has advantages because no visa is needed, so as an
Indonesian, I prefer Morocco. During the Covid-19 pandemic era, we have to be
extra careful and follow the health protocol to have a safe tour either to
Egypt or Morocco.
