The Christine Dacera Case, is it truly solved?


 

On December, 31st 2020, Christine Dacera (23) and her three male friends had a new year's celebration at Makati Hotel, The Philippines. One of her friends invited his friends over and made 11 men in total. Shortly after the midnight countdown, Dacera called her mother to wished her a happy new year and told her that she was with her colleagues celebrating the new year at Makati Hotel. From the CCTV footage, Dacera and her friends got seen switching rooms throughout the night. At 2:52 a.m., It showed Dacera kissing a guy later identified as Valentine Rosales. Moving forward, Dacera got seen interacting with another man in the next room on the right side of the hallway at 3:22 a.m. At 4:13 a.m., Dacera got seen being carried back by Dela Serna to the first room and looked like she almost passed out. Early in the morning, her friends explained she was vomiting. Around 10 a.m., one of her friends, Galito, found her in the bathtub and assumed she fell asleep, then he brought a blanket and put it over her. Around noon, he went back to the bathroom and saw Dacera became blue and was not moving. He quickly asked the staff for help. They tried CPR but does not work, so they decided to bring her to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital, she pronounced already passed away.

In a medico-legal report dated Jan. 11, the PNP Crime Laboratory ruled out homicide, saying she had died of aortic aneurysm, "a medical condition." An aortic aneurysm is an abnormal bulge that occurs in the wall of the major blood vessel (aorta) that carries blood from your heart to your body. In a report submitted at the continuation of the preliminary investigation on the case, medico-legal officer Police Lt. Col. Joseph Palmero said that within few hours of blood loss due to the ruptured aorta killed her. Even though the mom denied the autopsy, and say that Dacera did not have it. The autopsy also showed that her heart weight 500 grams which is heavier than normal hearts. Her family still believes there was a crime that happened at the party. Her mother complained that the bruises on Dacera's body did not include in the autopsy. The Makati City Prosecutor officer also told, there are pieces of evidence submitted that are incomplete to establish that Dacera got sexually assaulted. The evidence never was published to the public. They also did 2nd autopsy though the result is also never released to the public. But people believed that the results are the same as the first one.

The 11 men who partied with Dacera become suspect as The Makati City Prosecutor officer said they have insufficient evidence. The twist is that the 11 men said they all are gay, so the rape is unlikely to happen. He also said she liked to hang out with the LGBT community. The Makati police chief claimed that gays are still men, especially if they are intoxicated. De Guzman, one of the men who attended the party, responded that the reported statement was not correct. He said he never had sexual relations with a woman and never been aroused by a woman. After a while, another few men came to the media and debunking few false claims. They claimed that they were treated by the police very poorly; moreover, the police threatened them to confessed or they would get locked up forever. Because of the lack of evidence, these men got released. The case is still alive up to now because Christine Dacera's mother still believes that her daughter got sexually assaulted. She is planning to release a documentary about her daughter's case; on the other hand, professionals and the police concluded that Dacera died due to natural causes.
