The Increasing of Plastic Surgery Because of Zoom

Become comfortable in our own skin is hard, and the pressure of "the beauty standard" making it much harder because people expect us to fit in an unrealistic category. At the moment, we often use zoom to meet people; moreover, our real-life appearance might look a little bit different on camera; we all relate to that. The shocking news is that people want to get plastic surgery because they do not like how they look on the platform. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in the United States, virtual consultations for cosmetic procedures have risen 64 percent for surgeons since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Facelift has become one of the most popular choices; facelift itself means getting rid of wrinkles by tightening the skin on the face. I do not have anything against plastic surgery, but as I see it, I think there are easier, safer, and cheaper choices for this case.

We live in a society that cannot escape from social media. Those social media is competing to make the newest features like filters, for example. Zoom has filters that people can use. According to Zoom, they have a filter to "smooth out the skin tone on your face, to present a more polished looking appearance," which practically a built-in skin-smoothing filter that makes your face look more soft and clean. The filter is one of the most favorite filters by beauty vlogger. The look is famous since the late 1960s in Hollywood and up until now. It is free and easy to use, to use it go to the lower-left-hand corner of the screen, find Video Settings then check the box marked named Touch Up My Appearance.

Hacks methods are popular among social media users. Zoom hacks also provided information to look better on Zoom. The most important hack is lighting. If one likes to take pictures, they might familiar with this topic. Good lighting can make a huge difference. It is more convenient than getting facelift or Botox. To get the best lighting, make sure to face natural lighting and that the source is coming from behind the camera. Redirect a desk lamp so that the light is bouncing off of a nearby wall if there are no natural lights in the room. A ring light is another option for an even more professional look. Personally, this is the best option to use for natural looks that reduce wrinkles that appear on the screen. Some filters make people’s faces look like entirely different people with over retouching, retuning, and smoothing.

The increasing of plastic surgery because of zoom can be minimalized with easier, safer, and cheaper options to look better on Zoom like filters and good lights; however, it goes back to the individuals whether they want to do plastic surgery or not. If they feel happy with themselves after the plastic surgery, then nothing will stop them. Nevertheless, they have to think about it surely before doing it because there will be disadvantages outcome.
